More notecard designs! {And some purple love.}

Y’all know I LOVE stationery – note cards in particular! A few weeks ago, Beverly and I were brainstorming some new collections for the shop and we came up a lot of fun ideas. First up, I want to share these two new note card designs.

The best news is these are in the shop, ready for purchase. {Just click on “Shop the Nest” on the right to go right to our shop.} Want them personalized? Contact us! We would love to create personalized stationery for you. I think note cards make a great gift for anyone — even yourself!

And how fun is this post? Julia sent me this blog this morning, thinking I’d love the purpleness of it. How cute is that? Thanks for sharing, Jules!

Ideas and inspiration

Beverly and I met this morning for a SBN pow-wow and some caffeine. We talk on the phone often and exchange what feels like a million emails a day, but nothing beats a good face-to-face meeting. There are a few changes coming your way in the Etsy shop that should make shopping a bit more streamlined {you may not even notice the changes!}, and we discussed a few new ideas.

One of our new thoughts is a menu planning notepad. I need a menu planner in a bad way, and since we were going to make one for ourselves, we are going to share it with you guys, too!

Something else we want to introduce is a new collection of notecards – we have ideas for some “grown-up” correspondence cards that we hope you love!

Finally, a Valentine’s collection is in the works! Think printable Valentine cards, party circles and more!

I am *totally* smitten with Pinterest. I find the World Wide Web to be fascinating and intimidating at the same time; there are SO many great ideas floating around out there to inspire but am I the only one who gets frustrated that I can’t seem to keep up with all those great ideas? At least with Pinterest, I can satisfy my urge to be nosy and see what others are doing AND categorize all of those fabulous things I must try. And every once in a while, I come across something totally brilliant that makes me wish I had thought of it first!

Like this:

Umm, hello?! That’s a changing table that is now used as a totally awesome serving piece/bar/display stand for entertaining. When I saw that, I instantly wanted to run upstairs and put Molly’s changing table back together, but I guess I’ll wait for a reason first. But don’t be surprised if you come to my house and see that bad boy in action! I’ll be sure to take a picture and share with you if I do repurpose the changing table in this way.

Have you used your babe’s changing table in another way? Do tell!

{Notecards} Giving Thanks

Now that Halloween has come and gone, we can start to think about the next fall holiday: Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is such a good time to be with friends and family; the weather is cool, there’s lots of football on, and so much yummy food. But more importantly, Thanksgiving is *easy*. There are no gifts – just gifts of time and love and each other. The most stressful part of Thanksgiving is the grocery shopping {if, you know, you actually have to make something for dinner!}.

So, Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday for a sweet notecard, don’t you think? I know many friends who don’t travel home for the long weekend since they’re planning a trip ‘home’ in December – a sweet, gracious note to friends and family that you won’t see over the holiday is the perfect way to let them know you’re thinking of them!

These flat correspondence cards would be perfect as place cards at the dinner table, or for dinner guests to jot down what they’re thankful for.

We’re selling these cute notecards in our shop, or if you’re in town and coming to our 1st Annual Open House next week, we’ll have some there too!

{I guess now that I’m talking about Thanksgiving, I better take down my Halloween decorations!}

{Sweet Parties} Sloan’s Racing Party

One thing is for sure: Little boys love things that go. Cars, trucks, planes, trains and especially race cars! Sloan’s mom, Hannah, contacted us a while back and told us that she loved our Vroom Vroom collection *but* that she was hoping to have a race car party for her son’s first birthday. We were excited to create a custom design for her and think that the end result is just too cute!

Sloan and Molly share the same birthday, just one year apart. So fun!

I love the checkered flags! Such a cute, simple way to carry the theme throughout the party. And I love it when the cake coordinates with the paper products. Such a little detail, but impressive.

And every one-year-old needs a smash cake, right?

Thanks, Hannah, for asking us to create the invitations, a banner, favor tags, and a door sign for Sloan’s party! Everything turned out so cute and I hope your little guy enjoyed his day!

Special delivery

There are so many things to enjoy about creating beautiful and fun paper products with my sister – we both love paper, so that’s a given; I talk to my sister a lot – over 1800 minutes one month – and we share roughly 40 emails on a daily basis; and we have gotten to {virtually} meet and talk with some really cool people via our blog and Etsy shop.

But the coolest thing, by far, is going to my mailbox and finding an invitation, notecard or announcement that WE designed. Our friends have been *so* supportive over the past 13 months and are the best repeat customers. It makes me happy to not only see our designs in print, but to know that our friends trust us enough to create these memories for them.

{My $4 Ikea magnetic strip and $1 Crate and Barrel magnet clips might be my favorite things in my kitchen. Besides the invitations, of course!}

{Introducing} The Puppy Collection and a Deck Update

This weekend, I finally got this adorable puppy collection in the shop. A sweet customer of ours asked us to create a custom invitation for her daughter’s birthday, and we had so much fun designing these invitations and other party items. We ended up creating a personalized banner, return address labels, favor stickers and cupcake toppers to coordinate with the invitation. We’re hoping Nan sends pictures of the party soon! If she does, we’ll post them for you to see. But for now, here’s a peek at the whole collection:

Don’t you just love the colors? This would also be really cute to customize the colors for a boy’s party, too! You can find the collection in our Etsy shop today!

As you know, we’ve been working on our backyard and deck. Saturday morning, this is what the deck looked like:

Last weekend while I was in Santa Barbara, Jim and my dad poured the concrete for the posts and got the posts inserted. During the week, Jim cut the posts to their appropriate heights. By Saturday evening, we were much closer:

Sunday evening, we got to eat dinner on our deck!

Or, at least we started to eat dinner on the deck until it started thundering, lightning and raining buckets. The deck is still missing a bench, railing and steps, but I’m so excited that I can actually envision the finished product and stand on it!  Jim and my dad have done an awesome job so far.

{New Designs} Baby Showers and Birth Announcements

I cannot believe May is almost over…I was looking at our orders calendar the other day and am so excited about our successful month! We’ve created several new invitations and announcements, and customized some of our favorite designs. We hope to have pictures of some fabulous parties to share with you soon!

This past Saturday, I co-hosted a baby shower for a dear friend of mine, Lauren. It’s always fun – and a lot of pressure! – to create a new invitation for an event that I’m hosting! Beverly created three designs for us and Sarah and I chose this polka dotted version:

{It’s a variation of one of our Sip ‘n See invitations!}

We had a wonderful time celebrating Lauren and her baby boy. Sarah and I created a lunch of chicken salad croissants, pimento cheese, fruit and a salad recipe that I stole from my friend Andrea (greens, peaches, spiced pecans, goat cheese, and a walnut-oil dressing}. Lauren wanted brownies for the sweet treat, which was simple and delicious – my favorite combination!

We’ve also created several birth announcements this month, too! We still have two to show you once they are mailed out, but here a few that we can share with you already:

We are also so thrilled and honored to create these extra special invitations and announcements for our customers. You can find these designs and more in our Etsy shop today!
