Leavin’ on a jet plane

Beverly and I are on our way – with our mom! – to visit our little sis in Santa Barbara. Oh, what an obligation to travel to beautiful California to visit family, right?

Just kidding!

We are so excited for a few days away. I’m looking forward to a run with no humidity and we’re all looking forward to the wine tasting tour Whitney has planned for us! Beverly and I miss will miss our kiddos, that’s for sure but they’re in good hands.

I’ll be sure to post some pictures when we get back! In the meantime, if you send us an email, we will respond as soon as possible {in between wine tastings, of course!}.

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

I caught Molly shopping for my Mother’s Day gift yesterday afternoon {or as a friend pointed out, maybe her birthday gift?!}…

Which got me inspired to think about what I’d like for Mother’s Day. Or what I might get my own Mom or Mother-in-law. With so many options, it was hard to narrow it down!

Since Molly was *already* perusing the Tiffany & Co. catalog, this is what I’d pick out:

Bow Ring in gold or silver, Tiffany & Co.

But these Jack Roger’s sandals have been calling my name…they’re classic Jackie O. and are made in the USA.

Jack Rogers Hamptons Navajo in Platinum

But I would love to work on the landscaping in the backyard and I’ve always wanted a peony bush. Peonies are beautiful and smell divine, but I don’t have the greenest thumb…

But one can never go wrong with pampering products for Mom.  Bubble bath or luxurious shower gel plus a Barnes and Noble giftcard so I can download a new book on my Nook = heaven. However, then I would need *time* to enjoy that gift, and I’m not sure where to purchase that..

Sephora

Obviously, my list could go on and on…my friend Becky asked for a bike so she could ride with the kids on the weekends. That sounds like such a fun idea and is the gift that will keep on giving, right?

No matter what gift you choose for your mom, it will be extra special because it’s from YOU. Moms are cool that way. Molly could bring me a pile of poo and I’d still think she was awesome. I’m looking forward to spending Mother’s Day weekend with my sweet family and my favorite moms, Beverly and my mother.

How are you planning to celebrate Mother’s Day? What do you hope your children or husband bestow upon you? Or what do you plan to give your own mom?  Do share!

Monday musings – What we’re up to now

Have you missed us?  It’s been a while since we last blogged – and believe me, it’s not for a lack of goings-on!  Spring has sprung and with it all of the busy-ness of warmer weather, spring sports (baseball and soccer at Beverly’s house), and days spent outside with curious toddlers. Swinging and blowing bubbles are the activities of choice at my house.

We have been working on some super fun party invitations – a special Elmo party, a baby shower hosted by yours truly, and a pirate gathering, just to name a few.  We are also in the final stages of printing our first ever wedding invitation and we couldn’t be more excited about how beautiful it is!  Also, we have created some new notecard designs that are perfect for families and mothers-to-be.  We can’t wait to share them with you.

Sweet Birdie’s Nest is also in the process of a makeover.  We changed our logo/header a bit – did you notice?  We switched out the brown border to a softer gray, and finally added our tagline so that new visitors will actually know what we’re about.  {Not sure why we didn’t think of that sooner…} And we’re looking forward to introducing a new blog design to you *soon*!  We’re so giddy; I feel like we’re in seventh grade, the way we’ve been anticipating and giggling over this change.  If you love Sweet Birdie’s Nest, please continue to share us with your friends and family – we have been able to grow our business because of friends like YOU and we are so grateful.

Finally, on a personal note, I went to Beverly’s house this afternoon when Molly woke up from her nap to look at the wedding invitation proofs and when it was time to leave, the girls gave each other hugs.  It might have been the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Some days I cannot even believe how lucky I am.

{Sneak Peek} It’s a Safari Baby Shower

Along with our mom and sister Whitney, we are hosting a baby shower for our cousin’s wife, Brandi, later this month.  She didn’t find out the gender of the baby, so we used her nursery theme as inspiration for the shower.  I love the playful safari theme invitations we came up with!

I think those safari animals would make cute notecards, don’t you?

Sweet Birdie’s Nest

Welcome to our little corner of the blog world!

Sweet Birdie’s Nest is the creation of two sisters – Beverly and Heidi – who have a love for all things beautiful, whimsical, and personalized.  As we became mothers, we saw an even greater need for fun and beautiful, yet practical, items and when we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for, we would make it!  Never one for store bought, pre-packaged party invitations, we started designing and making birthday party invitations and then we couldn’t stop:  birth announcements, Baptism invitations, shower invitations, and personalized note cards soon followed.  Always dreaming of combining their creative genius, Sweet Birdie’s Nest finally came to fruition when the sisters both had daughters – two weeks apart!

Sweet Peaches

Molly (or as we like to call her, Sweet Peaches) is Heidi’s first child and has been quite the inspiration to her mama.

Addi Bird

Addison, or Addi Bird, is Beverly’s third child – and the only girl.  Addi has two proud big brothers, Jackson and Benjamin.  And her mother has always been inspired!

We hope to use this blog to showcase our ideas and designs and to inspire you. Shop Etsy for some of our favorite creations, or better yet, let us know what you’re looking for and we can create it for you!

As our love for paper products and personalized children’s gifts and everyday items continues to grow, check back to see what we dream up next!
