Ballard Inspired Bulletin Board

During the Christmas rush, my office became quite the mess…and I am just now getting around to *organizing* all the paperwork that accumulated during November and December.  On top of that, Heidi and I got this great idea to switch my playroom (which is upstairs) and my office (which is downstairs).  Well, talk about a mess!  January was spent decluttering, purging and donating!

Once I got my desk moved, I decided I needed a bulletin board to go right behind my computer monitor to remind me of all our current client projects!  I LOVE the Ballard catalog and saw this awesome burlap covered memo board that would be perfect in the new office:

The best part was that I already everything but the upholstery tacks to make this!!  (Sad to say, but I have had the cork and foam board for over 5 years to use for a completely different project!)

First things first, I cut the foam board (ended up using two pieces to make it extra thick for the upholstery tacks I purchased) and cork to size.  For the spot I am hanging my memo board, 16×25 was the perfect size.  I spray glued all the pieces together and clamped them to dry.

Next, I cut a piece of burlap big enough to fold over and staple with the staple gun.

Finally, I got to turn the bulletin board over and add the finishing touches…the upholstery tacks!   I placed the tacks about 2.5 inches apart.

I am so excited about how it turned out…I think I am going to make a bigger one to go over my work table!

{Decorating} A few of my favorite things….

Designing all these Christmas cards has got me in the mood to start decorating, so much in fact that I just told Heidi the other day I am  ready to put up my Christmas trees!  The worst part?  I cannot stop with just one tree!   In hopes to hold off on decorating, I thought I would post a few of my favorite things I have seen in the catalogs lately.

Cheers! pillow from Ballard Designs

I loved this so much that we designed a new card inspired by the pillow!

{Sweet Parties} Addison’s 1st Birthday!

The birthday girl (not digging the grass!)!

Last Saturday was Addison’s birthday, and we had the family over for some good food (and ice cream sundaes!) to celebrate.  It is so hard for me to believe that Molly and Addison have turned one and we have left the baby stage behind.  It is so exciting to see their sweet little personalities shine and watch their progression from babies to toddlers.    Check out some of the fun details from Addison’s butterfly party!

I had so much fun putting this party together and I really have to thank my husband for putting up with me!  Also, I owe a huge thanks to my mom for all her help in decorating and helping with all the kiddos, to Heidi for helping with the decorations and tissue paper poms, my mother-in-law for helping with the food and to my dear friend Yasmin who baked the beautiful butterfly cookies!!!  Inspiration for the party came from our Butterfly Collection in Etsy shop, Dwellings by Devore for the branches (be sure to check out Bethany’s blog – it is full of fun and affordable decorating ideas!!), and TomKat Studios for the butterfly bunting.

What Inspires You?

We have been working on some custom orders, and I needed some inspiration to get me going.  I love all things design….interior, graphic, photography, & textile.  I love a good catalog and can’t wait for a free minute to soak it all in.  Well, just my luck my new Restoration Hardware Baby and Child came this week and I fell in love with this bedding.  I love the vintage look to it and how girly it is!  What inspires you?

{Sweet Parties} Welcome to the World Aaron!

I recently hosted a party to welcome my sweet new nephew Aaron to the world and to shower his mom with lots of love!  Aaron is such a wonderful baby and so snuggly!  When I was pregnant with my oldest (who is now 7.5!!), some dear friends of mine gave me an ice cream sundae shower and it was such a big hit that I decided to do that for Aaron’s party.  I used our Airplane collection for the invites, party circles and food tags.  The shower was wonderful and Hannah has such wonderful family and friends that came out to share in her special day.

Butterflies for Ellie

These special invitation designs were inspired by a local 8-year-old girl, Ellie Shoal Potvin, who recently lost her battle with cancer. The entire Charlotte community followed Ellie’s story, praying for her health, waiting for tweets and blog updates each day, wishing she would overcome her battle with a rare pediatric cancer. However, Ellie lost her battle with cancer in June, leaving behind a twin sister and her mom and dad, all of whom have been inspirational to our city. Whether at a church meeting, PTA meeting, or an evening out with friends, everyone was following Ellie’s story and could not help but be touched by the faith and courage of her family.

Her parents created the Lift Up Ellie foundation as a voice for all children fighting pediatric cancers. All proceeds from the purchase of these invitations will be donated to the Lift Up Ellie foundation. As parents ourselves, we cannot imagine what Ellie’s family has faced, but we want to do something to help.  Join us in fighting childhood cancer by purchasing the Butterflies for Ellie invitation in our Etsy shop.

Please be sure to visit the Lift Up Ellie website to learn more about this special girl and her amazing family!

{Airplane Collection} in the Shop!

We have a new collection in the Etsy shop…  Perfect for a boy’s birthday party or baby shower….let us customize this invite for your next party!

I designed these airplane invitations for my new nephew’s Sip’n See.  Aren’t those types of parties so fun?  My sister-in-law, Hannah, already has one super sweet little boy and they waited to find out what the gender of their next child was.  Now that Aaron is here and everyone is getting a little sleep, Chad and Hannah are thrilled to introduce Aaron to the world.  I’m hosting a sundae social to honor Hannah and Aaron in a few weeks, so check back to see the pictures.

Busy Bees!

Heidi and I have been busy planning some great parties, as well as new collections for our Etsy shop.  Molly and Addison’s birthdays are right around the corner, so of course we are planning sweet parties for the girls.  Can’t wait to show you all the details!

Here is a sneak peek of one upcoming party!!

{Cherry Collection} Now in the Shop!

I have to start by telling you how excited I am to have our first collection in the Etsy shop!  My brother-in-law and his wife just had a brand new baby boy!  He is handsome, cute and so sweet!  I asked Hannah (my SIL) if I could throw her a “Sip-n-See” after the baby comes since they did not know what they were having.  Well, I have been planning two baby showers for two months now….one for a boy and one for a girl!  Hannah had mentioned that she found the cutest little outfit at Gymboree if the baby was a girl.  It was from the Cherry line.  Well, I love that line and Addison owns a few pieces herself…but my actual inspiration was from the cutest dress that Carter’s had last year in their very own cherry collection.  Addison and Molly both had this dress, it was a light aqua blue with white polka dots all over, and a cherry on the chest.

Anyway – after Hannah mentioned the dress, I knew that I had to plan a shower around the cherry outfit she loved.  Now that we know sweet Baby M is a boy, I have put the Cherry Collection I was working on in the Etsy shop!  There are two (2) invitation designs, as well as some party circles.  These would be so perfect for a baby shower or birthday party!  If we can customize these for your next party….send us an email!

Party Circles being used as cupcake toppers!

We have several more collections in the works, so please check back soon! And, as always, if you don’t see what you are looking for, let us create something just for you!  Hope you all have a Happy 4th of July!

Caroline’s {Oh Baby!} Shower

When Heidi asked me to create a crisp navy and green custom invite for her friend Caroline’s baby shower, I was so excited!  Navy and green are such classic colors and perfect for this southern summer party.
